Dr. Foster practices the Biopsychosocial model of psychiatry.

  • The biopsychosocial model (“BPS”) is an approach that believes biological, psychological (which entails thoughts, emotions, and behaviors), and social factors, all play a significant role in human functioning in the context of wellness or illness.
  • The BPS paradigm is the basis of the popular concept of the “mind–body connection”.
  • This model embraces biological, psychological and social factors in assessing and treating mental health issues.
  • As such, Dr. Foster sees her patient as a whole person and gains an insight into the issues, challenges and environment her patient is dealing with on a daily basis.
  • With respect and dignity, Dr Foster approaches each patient with a calm & gentle persona which children and adolescents, especially, relate to well.
  • Together, she and her patient develop strategies to help her patient function in the most productive way possible.

In assisting her patients with mental health issues, Dr. Foster instills confidence and helps them find their way in this complex world.
